On August 7, 2014, Attorneys Patti R. Page, Steven F. Stitzel, Joseph S. McLean, Robert E. Fletcher, and Dina L. Atwood together appeared at the Vermont Principals Association Summer Leadership Academy in Killington, Vermont to deliver a presentation entitled “Education Law – An Overview and Update for School Administrators: Legal Issues facing Vermont Administrators and How to Avoid Them.”
The experienced attorneys provided a comprehensive school law workshop. Administrators who attended are now better prepared to recognize and manage situations before legal issues result in time-consuming corrective action and costly litigation. Key education law topics covered included: student issues (bullying & harassment, special education, discipline, social media); personnel & labor issues; school board operation & governance; constitutional issues; school liability, and recent changes in the law. Audience members participated by contributing questions and insights throughout the presentation.
