FEMA Assistance Decisions Can Be Appealed

If you are initially found to be “ineligible” for FEMA assistance, or are dissatisfied with the amount of assistance you are awarded, you can appeal FEMA’s decision. Your appeal must be filed within 60 days of the date of FEMA’s letter to you.

You can get information on how to appeal by calling FEMA’s Helpline (1-800-621 3362) from 7 AM to 10 PM any weekday. Similar information is available in the “Help After a Disaster” guide that FEMA sends to everyone who registers for assistance.
